The challenges of the circular economy: cases and indicators in the context of the ARIES4 project

Pamplona, 25 June 2025 - Coinciding with the last class of the course Business leadership in circular economy: innovation and sustainability, one of the two training programmes funded by the ARIES4 project, a special session was held to present the project and some of its main results.

The day began with the intervention of Martín Larraza, Project Manager of ARIES4, who reviewed the project from its beginnings to the present day. During his presentation, he highlighted the main milestones achieved and the results obtained so far.

Nuria Osés then shared the progress of Work Package 2 (WP2), focusing her intervention on the catalogue of indicators developed. She explained some of these key indicators, how and how they can be interrelated to obtain greater results and also their applicability within the framework of the circular economy.

The third intervention was given by Katrin Simon, who presented the Work Package 3 (WP3) casebook. Her presentation focused on the experiences of the Navarrese companies MOA Foodtech and BeePlanet, analysing their role in sustainability, their trajectories and the challenges they are currently facing. Like Osés, Simon closely linked the cases presented to the principles of the circular economy.

The session concluded with an open discussion on current challenges and opportunities in sustainability and circular economy. The exchange of ideas continued informally over coffee afterwards, encouraging networking among the attendees.

The event was attended by members of the ARIES4 project, representatives companies and students of the training programme, who positively valued the initiative and the space for reflection generated.
